NIKKOR Z 180-600mm f/5.6-6.3 VR Primary Features
Reach further, be bolder
Not only does the NIKKOR Z 180-600mm f/5.6-6.3 VR make wildlife photography a walk in the park, but users can also dynamically capture thrilling sports action and planes in the distance with its wide focal length range of 180mm to 600mm. Users can shift from 180mm to 600mm with a 70-degree turn of the zoom ring, enabling focus on shooting the right moments without the need to switch lenses while capturing subjects at different distances.

Fulfil your need to get closer to the action while maintaining excellent image resolution as the lens’ focal length is extendable to 840mm and 1200mm with 1.4x or 2.0x teleconverter1, respectively. This is especially useful when dealing with subjects that are inaccessible, like athletes crossing the finish line or easily spooked wildlife, as you can present your subjects in the frame as intended without having to crop an image to ‘zoom in’ on the subject.
With the NIKKOR Z 180-600mm f/5.6-6.3 VR, users can easily bring little details to life, such as a ladybug crawling on a tree or blooming cherry blossoms. With a minimum focus distance of 1.3m (at the wide-angle position) and a maximum reproduction ratio of 0.25x (at the telephoto end), the lens provides more opportunities to capture subjects up close.

Achieve more with less
Handholding a super-telephoto lens for long hours can be challenging. The NIKKOR Z 180-600mm f/5.6-6.3 VR takes care of that with its portable size and weight of approximately 1955g2, helping to reduce fatigue during transportation and shooting – making it an ideal companion during wildlife expeditions or sports events. The lens is also lighter than the AF-S NIKKOR 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR while covering a broad focal length of 180mm to 600mm.
Focus on securing stable footage while the NIKKOR Z 180-600mm f/5.6-6.3 VR takes care of accidental shaking and vibration, especially when shooting with a telephoto lens, whereby a small shake can result in blurry images. Enjoy the creative freedom to capture sharp and clear stills and videos with a Vibration Reduction (VR) effect of up to 5.5 stops3. Take the stress out of capturing fast-moving subjects like flying birds with Auto subject detection and 3D tracking when you pair the lens with the Z 9 or the Z 8.
With the VR SPORT mode, users can enjoy stable EVF viewing when panning and tracking fast-moving subjects, enabling them to track subjects with a clear sight of vision when doing continuous burst high-speed shooting. With the NIKKOR Z 180-600mm f/5.6-6.3 VR, users can capture wildlife in a quiet forest with confidence. Shoot videos without worrying about disruption from unnecessary operational sounds, thanks to the smooth and quiet operation of the lens’ STM and ‘click-less’ control ring.

Outstanding operability
Framing is crucial, especially when shooting from a far distance. The NIKKOR Z 180-600mm f/5.6-6.3 VR internal zoom mechanism enables stable framing as the centre of gravity remains stable and does not shift while zooming. The superb handling with a fixed front lens and length during zooming reduces the effect of weight-shift, which affects a user’s posture when framing the shot. Users get added peace of mind with a lock release button on the lens hood that secures the lens in place.
Capturing the right moments from a distance requires great focus and concentration. Users can use the four Fn buttons to assign their favourite functions and quickly switch to their most-preferred settings without having to toggle the camera menu as they track their subjects. In addition, users can record videos smoothly and with minimal operation noise with the adoption of a click-less control ring and a design that considers for less focus breathing.
Rounding off the robust qualities of this super-telephoto lens is the dust-and-drip resistant4 design which helps to prevent dust and liquid from entering the lens. Users can easily remove dust and dirt with the addition of an antifouling fluorine coat on the front lens.

1 Depending upon the subject, scene brightness, and focus position, AF may not perform as expected, regardless of the camera used, resulting in inaccurate focus, slow focusing, or flashing of the focus indicator for electronic rangefinding. Maximum aperture will be reduced by 1 or 2 stops respectively when 1.4x or 2.0x teleconverters are used.
2 Excluding tripod collar ring.
3 Based on CIPA Standard. This value is achieved when attached to a camera with full-frame/FX-format sensor, with the camera's VR function set to "NORMAL", and when zoom is set to the maximum telephoto position.
4 Thorough dust- and drip-resistance is not guaranteed in all situations or under all conditions.
