FOCUSING MADE EASY, WITH THE NIKON Z 9

FOCUSING MADE EASY, WITH THE NIKON Z 9

When it comes to photography, finding your focal point doesn’t have to be complicated. Discover how the Nikon Z 9 can bring out the best in your work with ground-breaking technology.

A good focus of the subject to a specific point of interest draws the attention of your audience and maybe even creates an emotional connection with them. Focus in photography or videography isn’t just about ensuring the sharpness of an image. It helps highlight the subject by allowing it to stand out, instead of blending into the background.

This is important as the higher the video definition and resolution increase, the more critical it is to get a good focus on your subject. Especially in 8K, any tiny imperfection might be amplified unintendedly, likewise all details can be rendered with never-before-seen clarity and vividness – you don’t want that in your creations.

Find out how the Nikon Z 9 ensures that all your work is in focus and flawless, effortlessly.

Tip #1

BREAKING THE BOUNDARIES OF FOCUSING

Being Nikon’s flagship mirrorless camera, the Z 9 brings you innovative capabilities for focusing in various situations – a handy camera packed with plenty of focusing options to cater to your different needs. If manual focusing is your go-to option, the Z 9 can assist you effectively with its magnified view of up to 200% on top of the customisable focus peaking display, allowing you to focus and achieve clarity quicker than the typical Live View method.

Tip #2

DON’T MISS THE DETAILS

Make your moments front and centre. The combination of new optical formulas and NIKKOR’s proven glass types result in greater resolution from the centre of the frame, right down to the far edges. For example, selected NIKKOR lenses come with the Short-wavelength Refractive (SR) lens element that greatly reflects short-wavelength light that is difficult to compensate — resulting in highly true-to-life, exceptional colour rendering.

In addition, you also won’t need to worry about stepping down any of these lenses in order to achieve your desired sharpness at any focal length.

Point #3

CAPTURE MOMENTS AS IT IS

As creators, being able to capture the scene just as you experience it is vital. Even at their widest apertures, NIKKOR Z lenses show virtually no distortion—flare, ghosting, coma, chromatic, axial, and spherical aberration are all greatly minimised. This enables you to capture videos that fully and accurately express all the details of your story.

To help capture your moments crisp and clear, the NIKKOR Z lenses are engineered with a combination of Nikon’s most advanced lens coatings: the Nano Crystal Coat, ARNEO Coat, and Meso Amorphous Coat. Even in harsh lighting conditions, these work well individually or in tandem to diffract light; effectively suppressing any flaring and ghosting effects.

The line-up of NIKKOR Z lenses is ever-expanding, and new lenses are constantly being developed to better support the creative expressions of your needs.

Tip #2

VERSATILITY BEYOND MANUAL FOCUSING

Shooting in the dark – the subject detection and autofocus (AF) of the Z 9 goes all the way down to -6.5 EV. This way, you never have to worry about being out of focus when you shoot videos in low-light environments anymore.

The AF-S mode also triggers auto-focusing on the maximum speed possible with the lenses, allowing you to snap subjects or still scenes with perfect clarity without the need for manual focusing.

When you are shooting on-the-go or chasing down iconic moments, auto focus will be your go-to focusing mode, especially in a decisive moment when quick thinking and fast reaction is required for the best film-worthy shot. You can also choose to customise your very own shape focus area with 20 custom Wide-Area AF (C1/C2) options that work simultaneously with Subject Detection and Eye-Detect AF. On top of this, you can even tweak the speed of the focus to simulate cinematic focus-pull transition with AF-F mode, a focus mode specially designed to be used when shooting moving subjects.

Tip #3

FOCUS ON ANYTHING, EVERYTHING, ALL AT ONCE

With its class-leading subject detection that can be activated with various area-modes, users can control which part of the scene the Z 9 should focus on, while identifying and tracing up to nine types of subjects – making it perfect for use in fast-changing situations. Whether you are documenting heart-warming moments or zooming in on the finest details in a time-crunching fashion shoot, your subject will always be in focus no matter what.

Achieving clarity and focus within your creations don’t have to be complicated or cumbersome, as long as you have the right camera in your hands.
