SERVICE ADVISORY FOR NIKON D600 DIGITAL SLR CAMERA

[ 10 JULY 2019: ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING EXPIRATION OF CORRECTIVE SERVICE ]

Thank you for choosing Nikon for your photographic needs.

Please take note that this Service Advisory has already ended on 10 January 2020. Any corrective service performed after 10 January 2020 will be chargeable and in accordance to standard Nikon repair policies.

Nikon has previously informed users of the D600 through a Service Advisory on 22 February 2013, and subsequently updated advisories published on 26 February 2014 and 10 April 2014, that Nikon would provide corrective servicing, free of charge, for D600 cameras exhibiting a particular issue.

This announcement is to inform users of the D600 that requests for this free corrective servicing will only be accepted until 10 January 2020. Service requests to address this issue after 10 January 2020 will be handled in accordance with standard Nikon repair policies.

If you would like to have your Nikon D600 inspected for this issue and corrected as needed, at no cost, please request the service from a Nikon service centre as soon as possible.

While the structure of digital SLR cameras makes the complete elimination of spots caused by dust particles in images very difficult, it has come to our attention that, in some rare cases, a large number of these spots may be noticeable in images. Therefore, Nikon would like you to follow the instructions below to reduce this issue.

The Solution

Please clean your camera's image sensor using the Clean Image Sensor function built into the camera, or manually using a blower, as instructed in the "The Low-Pass Filter" section of the camera's User's Manual. If you have already followed these instructions but are still troubled by the appearance of dust spots in images, please consult your nearest Nikon service centre.

The Nikon service centre will thoroughly inspect your camera, clean it, and if necessary, replace the shutter assembly and related components. You will not be charged for this service, and Nikon will pay all shipping costs, both to and from the Nikon service centre.

In the event that this corrective service has been performed multiple times but multiple granular dust spots are still noticeable in images captured, Nikon will replace your camera with a new D600 or its equivalent model.

Nikon sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this issue may have caused. Nikon remains committed to providing only the highest quality cameras and components, and we hope that you will continue to choose Nikon for your photography needs.
